In 1985 Peter established and operated an airfreight business that contracted mainly to the courier division of New Zealand Railways. This operation used three DC-3 freighters, which Peter had fitted with a containerised freight system.

The boss lends a hand: Peter Vincent (left) believes no one on his staff should be expected to something he wouldn’t do himself.
He was responsible for the initial contract negotiation and the establishment of the whole operation. This included the sourcing and modification of aircraft, gaining air operator certification and all regulatory approvals, plus the hiring of crew. He was both managing director and flight operations manager. This company continued to operate very profitably and eventually became Air Freight NZ Ltd, which is New Zealand's second largest air freight operator.
Having established a solid operating base for this company’s future, Peter sold his shareholding in 1988 to pursue an airline-flying career with Ansett NZ Limited.
Peter’s total flight experience includes over 14,000 hours of flying commercially over 30 years, and 12 years as a Captain with Ansett New Zealand. This includes eight years as a DASH-8 training captain.
He is Flight Examiner rated in both New Zealand and Australia and holds ATPL licences in both countries. Peter has flown B-737, BAE-146, DASH-8, DC-3, Beechcraft 1900 and most Cessna aircraft.
Peter left Ansett as a senior BAE-146 Captain in January 2000 to concentrate on the growth of Vincent Aviation.
